TransferChat let you move files to and from S3, SFTP, and FTP directly from your web apps and AI assistants — no terminals, no desktop clients. We've now wound it down.
Why we built it
Transferring files to cloud and remote storage used to mean context-switching into a terminal, an FTP client, or a cloud console. We wanted that to happen where work actually happens — inside the apps and AI assistants people already use every day.
So we built TransferChat: a simple way to send and fetch files across S3, SFTP, and FTP through a chat interface and a Model Context Protocol (MCP) server, with secure credential storage and activity logging built in.
Why it's retired
The ground shifted underneath the problem. Modern AI assistants — Claude, ChatGPT, and others — can now connect to storage and orchestrate file transfers natively, through their own tools and integrations. The thin layer TransferChat provided is something today's models handle on their own.
We'd rather sunset a tool honestly than keep running one the world has outgrown. If you need to move files to S3, SFTP, or FTP today, ask your AI assistant of choice — it can almost certainly walk you through it directly.
What happens to your account
The application and its services have been fully shut down, and associated data and credentials have been decommissioned. There's nothing you need to do.
